Planning for a yard sale

We are planning for a yard sale one week from now. Hopefully we'll make
some money. I am also trying to get the Trans Am posted in the Trader so
we can make some money off that too. So far we have a kitten, a puppy and
the birds to find homes for. I am also looking at all the furniture we can
sell. We'll also have clothes, books, kitchen supplies, toys, and a bunch
of other stuff to sell. I am really hoping it will help us out with some
money.

The boys are playing card games right now and I am about to start my tasks
for the day. I have to clean the fridge, wash down appliances and drawer
fronts, mop the floors and clean the bathrooms. Fun fun fun!

Happy Father's Day

I took the boys to church today expecting a Father's Day service, instead we had flower communion. It was nice anyway. They did have a blurb that went something along "Here's to all the Fathers...". The boys and one other child were the only ones in RE today. They did Dr Suess "Oh Say Can You Seed" and learned all about plants. It was pretty cool. Flower communion was nice, I guess... I was greeting so I really didn't hear the service, but I was quite content watching Elizabeth make coffee while I taste tested the coffee Heehee. After service let out I ended up with all the left over flowers to take home and plant. Cool beans! We planted some, some are going with us to Spiral Scouts tomorrow and a couple are going to Nana's house for Nana and Vickie. We have quite a few plants going outside now and Miles' tomato plant have 5 tomatoes on it! WOOHOO!
 
Well, the Dam in Libby isn't about to flood all of Libby, MT. It's just working at full power for the next few... Weeks, I think... To pump out the water and the river is high right now. I found this out when I called and wished Daddy David a Father's Day. Funny, I am 30 years old and still call him Daddy David LOL.
 
I also called and wished Dad Kurt a Happy Father's Day and got to talk to Kevin. He's on leave and heading to England tomorrow for his next orders.
 
Overall it's been a nice day. And now I must go to sleep. I'll be cleaning and going to Spiral Scouts tomorrow.

The ever elusive ice cream truck

For the last few weeks we have heard an ice cream truck off in the distance. Now, living in the country, this is a wonderful thing since no ice cream trucks EVER come down our street... In fact, this one hasn't come down our street either. But each time we hear it, we grab a few dollars and run to the yard and wait to see if it is coming this way or not. So far it hasn't.
 
And on to Libby, MT news... I just spoke to my to be Sis-in-law, she said the dam is full to the max and they are ready to evacuate. They plan on releasing the water from the dam so it doesn't break, but when they do let it rip, there's a chance that Libby, MT will be flooded or wiped off the map (as sis-in-law says) so we are waiting to see what happens. I am expecting a call soon.
 
AND I am watching what I think is a bonfire off across the valley. It is usual around this time of year for the churches to have bonfires after their VBS week. So far it seems to be controlled and doesn't seem to be burning down the trees near it... But I'll be watching it.
 
And my neighbor said that someone spray painted his van with black paint and the lady on the land next to his. So we're on the lookout for suspicious activities. Not that I'll be much help, mind you. I don't go outside often and I have tint over my windows so I won't see much... But I am still looking.

Journals and such

I have been finding all my partial journals here and there while I am cleaning. I would really like to get them all togther one day, into one book. It might be interesting. I found some as far back as 1990. Anything before that is gone, I am sure. But it has been interesting to read back through them. It's like reading someone else's life. I remember it all but it is so interesting b/c I don't remember the stuff until I start reading it. Very cool.

AND... It's Chop and Brown day!

I say chop and brown day because it is easier to say than "chop, dice, slice, grate, blanch, brown, sautee, soak, flash freeze and prepare day". Much much easier. I have onions, beef, chicken, pork and a bunch of other stuff to cook for the next two weeks. I am getting all the meals prepped and frozen (just like the one's you'd buy at the store already made). Makes the weeks go by easier. I already have oatmeal sorted into individual meal bags and have teh hotdogs frozen, the chicken recipes ready to go and I must get to cooking. I'll post my process tonight should anyone be interested.

Dotchi! Off to chop and brown... Yea, that is a LOT better.

Renaming my blog

Oh my gosh! I realized that when we move, I can't keep calling my blog "The Baker's Acres" anymore. We won't have acres... unless we just rent. (We're still thinking about that). So I am taking names for the new blog when we move.

I thought of "The Baker's Anchor" as the new title. So tell me what you think. Do you like it?

We might be moving

We're working on selling the house and land and will probably be moving to San Diego if all works well. We already have a sailboat to live on. Dh is off in Washington doing something and will be sailing the boat to San Diego soon. I am hoping to move on very soon! I plan to go to college to become a nurse when we get out there and we'll still be homeschooling the boys to allow the most freedom and flexibility. I've been checking out the San Diego homeschool groups and the area in general and it looks so great! No more staying inside like I do now. I can go outside, but not for long. It hasn't been too bad lately, but when it gets up there in temperature and humidity, it is so unbarable.

Plus, I think Miles asthma won't be as bad... at least I hope. I know they'll be happier because we won't be so dependant on a vehicle for having friends and going out. Plus there is SO much to do there that is free or inexpensive. I can't wait! I miss the city and the beach.

Homeschool and Household Stuffs

With moving in the near future, I am weeding through the house and trying to get rid of stuff and trying to weed through what we won't need. We'll be going from a 16X80 mobile home to a 30 foot yacht... I love that word. It's about 9 feet wide inside. The space difference will be the biggest adjustment, I think. The boys will each have their own berth so they can have privacy, but the amount of stuff they collected will have to be trimmed down dramatically, as well as my stuff.

That means I'll also have to trim down on the homeschool materials we'll have. It won't be horrible though, I'll have the van to store things in, hopefully, so I'll have some storage, but not much. I'd like to get an RV or a camper so we can take it all on the road too. We won't really be homeschooling LOL we'll be roamschooling (Thanks, Ann, for the word!) I already have my laptop set up for homeschool tracker so I can journal everything and have plans laid out somewhere.

Tomorrow

I have an appointment to get my power steering belt put back on tomorrow. It's at 2 pm, so I am combining the trip to the grocery store with that. Then I can plan better for driving to the homeschool group in Chattanooga. We really miss it. It is really great to be a part of the Eclectic Group because everyone is so nice and I really miss them. We'll REALLY miss them when we leave. I have such fond memories of the group :)

And I made a semi meal plan. I am trying to make easier dishes and planning for the boat life so I am trying to make meals in a skillet, on the grill or in the toaster oven more. I'm sure it won't be THAT bad for cooking accomodations, but I want to be prepared, just in case. Miles grilled out dinner the other day and it was delicious!


Visiting Family

I need to get down to my mother-in-laws house to visit again. I think I'll bring coffee and a simple dish to share. I want to take her to the park one day and have everyone meet us there for a little get together. I really enjoy those get togethers lately. We've had so much fun. Maybe a potluck lunch or something one weekend would work out. I'll have to call her and find out.

I'll try to get to posting more often, but when I get good at it, I forget to post after a computer crash or the phone drops. I am adding it to my weekly list though. It's on Thursday's and Sunday's, so hopefully nothing crashes or drops on those days LOL. And as long as it doesn't rain, the phone will work.
