Stupid Kitchen Products I will Never Buy!

While browsing the internet yesterday, I was searching for kitchen items I want to eventually buy. I was making an "I want it!" list for all the things I will probably never be able to afford but if I ever win the lottery, I would buy them all! I ended up coming across some pretty ridiculous stuff too. I can't imagine ever needing, wanting or hoping to get any of these. I thought I would share the list and see what you all think.

Stupid Kitchen Product #1: The Garbage Bowl
I know it's terribly difficult to drag your trashcan next to where you are working and dump the food trash into it while you cook. Which is probably why Rachel Ray created a Garbage Bowl. This nifty bowl does wonderful things! What does it do? Wait for it... It holds trash! AND it sits on your counter! I know you are all in awe by now. A bowl that sits on the counter and holds garbage. We are all amazed at this engineering wonder. How could I have ever made it without that?

Here's how... it's called a regular bowl that sits on your counter. It can hold trash too. Maybe someone should inform Rachel Ray of this new discovery. With a quick trip to the Dollar Store, you too can own a huge bowl to hold garbage while you cook and you will save yourself $18.

OR you can do what I do. Drag that trashcan up next to the counter and just dump the trash into the trashcan as you go, completing eliminating the whole step of putting trash into a bowl and then having to wash the bowl when you are done.

Stupid Kitchen Product #2: Pizza Scissors
When I first saw this, I thought it was a joke. Instead of using an old fashioned pizza cutter or, God forbid, a knife to cut your pizza, you can cut them with overpriced Pizza Scissors. Are they serious?

How do I get by without them? Real easy! I use a knife. I know it's not as cool as using the world's biggest set of scissors to cut your pizza but seriously... who the hell actually needs scissors to cut pizza?

Stupid Kitchen Product #3: A Rolling Garlic Chopper
This might actually be cool to have if I didn't own a knife to smash and chop my garlic instead of dumping it in a Chef'n Garlic Zoom rolling garlic chopper. The rolling garlic chopper does all the chopping for you. Of course, as with any kitchen gadget that has that many teeny gears, it's going to be a bitch to clean. Have fun trying not to chop your fingers off when you wash it.

How do I get by without it? I manage by using a knife. But most of the times I am just too lazy and buy minced garlic in a jar. I am so lazy I don't feel like washing razor sharp garlic chopping blades. Why would I when I can scoop it out of the jar and be done with it?

Two New Projects this Week! Keeping myself busy

Now that I am adjusting to the new meds a little and I am not as tired constantly, I decided to find something to occupy my time a little better. Of course, blogging is on that list! But I added two new projects to keep my busy!

Blogging about the Filewise System
Awhile back I blogged about how the FileWise system was no more and how devastated I was about that. A little while later, I did get an email from someone willing to help me find the parts I was missing. I'll have to look through my email to find the name of the person as I REALLY want to thank her on the blog.

Then I got to thinking... HEY, why don't I just blog the whole system? SO, this week (or two or three, we'll see how long it takes) I will start adding the FileWise system to my blog. As far as I can tell, I won't be sued to hell for posting it. I will be updating as I get it done.

Writing a Children's Book
Working on other books is fun but is taking for FREAKING EVER! So I decided to get together with my sons, a friend of mine and my brother to write a children's book. I'll still be working on the others but hopefully this will get me in the market faster. And I've always wanted to write Children's books anyway. Why I veered away from it, I dunno... But I am going to pick it back up again.

The coolest thing is, my friend's 10 year old daughter will be illustrating the book and will make some of the profit with me. So it helps us all!

I am super excited about this week!

I thought of writing a line Pagan's kids books. But my first book will be something more general.

What kids books do you think we need more of? Or what kid stories do you think would be fun to read?

AND... Who wants to be my book tester? I need 5-10 book testers with kids (teachers would be awesome for this!) to read the book and tell me if you liked it or let me know which page you drooled on when you fell asleep from boredom.

My favorite blog blog #1: Problogger


Problogger is a pretty awesome blog. I got there often to read through the articles and just to browse. Darren also offers 6 resources to make your blog successful. I don't make any money by saying that. I just really love the blog. It is very helpful for me as a blogger and something fun to browse when I have the time to just sit and read (which is often).


My favorite blog blog #2: Official Google Blog


The Official Google Blog is the blog I go check out just because I use blogger as my blogging platform. And if the article is too boring, I can spent the next 10 minutes running my mouse all over the circles on the top right of the blog. (Do it! I know you want to!)


My favorite blog blog #3: Daily Blog Tips


Here's another Blog site that I like to read. It gives me ideas, insight and useful tips. Daily Blog Tips also has a list of the Top 25 Blogs about Blogging (which is where I got the idea for this post). It has a lot more blogs to help you blog and some of mine aren't on the list. You can check them out when you are done.


My favorite blog blog #4: For Bloggers by Bloggers


This is a good blog and I love reading what they have. For Bloggers by Bloggers has a tab for blog tips, blog designs, blog topics, Social Bookmarking, Social Networking and more. Basically, there is a little something for every blogger there. One of my favorites from them is the Blogging's 7 Deadly Sins article. I have it bookmarked!


My favorite blog blog #5: Blogger Buster


If you are using blogger for your blogging platform, then Blogger Buster is a good resource. I found it a few weeks ago and I have been browsing it a lot. I like what I see!  I've been toying with the idea of taking the Google Blogger Online Course they offer (for free!) just to see what it's like. I'll let you know what I find!

Mother's Day Gifts I love to Remember!

I just wanted to hop on here and wish everyone a Happy Mother's Day. I became a mom in 1991 when my first son, Brandon, was born. He died in my arms five days later and my first Mother's day was a little surreal to me. My mom gave me love knot earrings. I had them until my jewelry box was stolen years later but I always think of them fondly.

A Pink Rose
The first year I met my w-husband (w... it's just before an ex) met me, he bought me a pink rose. It meant so much to me because every other man I had met after Brandon died wouldn't acknowledge I even had a child and wouldn't even mention it. But my w-husband embraced it fully and honored the fact that I was a mother, even if my son was only in my memories. It meant the world to me and made me fall in love even more.

After my second son was born, I was thrilled to have a child that was made it and three years later, I had another bouncing little boy! Between the two of them, I had some wonderful gifts over the years. Usually their dad would help concoct some special breakfast in bed or a trip to restaurant. I think he had more fun planning these gifts LOL.

Burnt toast and coffee with sugar
But occasionally my kids would join together and give me some really special present. When my youngest was about 2 or 3, I woke up to the smell of burnt toast and coffee and the sounds of whispering little boys outside my bedroom. My door opened and here came two smiling boys with a plate of black toast, one from each of them, covered with enough jelly to send someone into a diabetic coma. Mendel handed me the plate of toast and Miles gave me the cup of coffee and both announced "Happy Mother's Day!" I was in heaven as I sat up eat my breakfast in bed.

The boys ran out and grabbed their toast and juice and joined me in bed. I ate few bites of toast and told them it was delicious. Actually, all the jelly masked the burnt taste, and apparently they dowsed it in butter too. It wasn't bad for burnt toast at all. I went to take a sip of the coffee and got a mouth full of coffee so strong and bitter it could remove my stomach lining. I told them it was really good (especially since they made the pot of coffee by themselves. Mendel grinned ear to ear and announced proudly "I put sugar in it!" Odd, it didn't taste anywhere close to sweet. Miles smiled and nodded "I helped!" "You did? Why thank you!" and they grinned ear to ear as they watched me force another swallow down my throat.

I finally couldn't take the bitterness and asked "Can mommy have more sugar in her coffee? I love it but I think it needs more sugar." Mendel got all excited, hopped up and yelled "I'll do it!" crawled forward and blew two kisses into my cup. "There! I put more sugar in it!" I nearly cried. When they were little, Nana always gave them "sugar" when she came to visit... and this Mother's Day, I got a cup of coffee with the sweetest sugar ever.
