Renaming my blog

Oh my gosh! I realized that when we move, I can't keep calling my blog "The Baker's Acres" anymore. We won't have acres... unless we just rent. (We're still thinking about that). So I am taking names for the new blog when we move.

I thought of "The Baker's Anchor" as the new title. So tell me what you think. Do you like it?
We might be moving

We're working on selling the house and land and will probably be moving to San Diego if all works well. We already have a sailboat to live on. Dh is off in Washington doing something and will be sailing the boat to San Diego soon. I am hoping to move on very soon! I plan to go to college to become a nurse when we get out there and we'll still be homeschooling the boys to allow the most freedom and flexibility. I've been checking out the San Diego homeschool groups and the area in general and it looks so great! No more staying inside like I do now. I can go outside, but not for long. It hasn't been too bad lately, but when it gets up there in temperature and humidity, it is so unbarable.

Plus, I think Miles asthma won't be as bad... at least I hope. I know they'll be happier because we won't be so dependant on a vehicle for having friends and going out. Plus there is SO much to do there that is free or inexpensive. I can't wait! I miss the city and the beach.

Homeschool and Household Stuffs

With moving in the near future, I am weeding through the house and trying to get rid of stuff and trying to weed through what we won't need. We'll be going from a 16X80 mobile home to a 30 foot yacht... I love that word. It's about 9 feet wide inside. The space difference will be the biggest adjustment, I think. The boys will each have their own berth so they can have privacy, but the amount of stuff they collected will have to be trimmed down dramatically, as well as my stuff.

That means I'll also have to trim down on the homeschool materials we'll have. It won't be horrible though, I'll have the van to store things in, hopefully, so I'll have some storage, but not much. I'd like to get an RV or a camper so we can take it all on the road too. We won't really be homeschooling LOL we'll be roamschooling (Thanks, Ann, for the word!) I already have my laptop set up for homeschool tracker so I can journal everything and have plans laid out somewhere.

Tomorrow

I have an appointment to get my power steering belt put back on tomorrow. It's at 2 pm, so I am combining the trip to the grocery store with that. Then I can plan better for driving to the homeschool group in Chattanooga. We really miss it. It is really great to be a part of the Eclectic Group because everyone is so nice and I really miss them. We'll REALLY miss them when we leave. I have such fond memories of the group :)

And I made a semi meal plan. I am trying to make easier dishes and planning for the boat life so I am trying to make meals in a skillet, on the grill or in the toaster oven more. I'm sure it won't be THAT bad for cooking accomodations, but I want to be prepared, just in case. Miles grilled out dinner the other day and it was delicious!

Visiting Family

I need to get down to my mother-in-laws house to visit again. I think I'll bring coffee and a simple dish to share. I want to take her to the park one day and have everyone meet us there for a little get together. I really enjoy those get togethers lately. We've had so much fun. Maybe a potluck lunch or something one weekend would work out. I'll have to call her and find out.

Bye for now!

I'll try to get to posting more often, but when I get good at it, I forget to post after a computer crash or the phone drops. I am adding it to my weekly list though. It's on Thursday's and Sunday's, so hopefully nothing crashes or drops on those days LOL. And as long as it doesn't rain, the phone will work.

What NOT to do with your cellphone
or "why you should have cellphone insurance"

When buying a cellphone, some people think the insurance is just another way for cell phone companies to seperate you from your money. Before you decided not to buy that insurance, here are a few true stories of things that have happened to cell phones.

Squeaky Clean

While mopping the floor one day, my friend leaned over too close to the mop bucket and dropped the phone into the nice hot, bleach and soap water. It never worked again.

Apple EWE!

One day while in a rush I, I mean, a friend of mine put a jar of applesauce in her purse along with her cell phone. When I, I mean, my friend got home, she opened her purse to find that the lid had come off the jar and her phone was soaking in applesauce. It was sticky and the buttons would stay down if pushed, but it worked until her replacement phone came in the mail.

Apple EWE number 2

A friend of mine was given a bag of apples for free and put them in her bag. The idea was that the person giving them away was giving them to her before they went bad. When she got home, she found her phone soaking in some sticky liquid and couldn't figure out what it was. Turns out the apples in the bag were so old, they were liquifying in her bag and something had punctured the bag letting all the apple goo run onto her phone.

That phone is hothothot!

I'll try to type this one without laughing too hard... My friend, her husband and her kids went camping for Mother's Day. Her sister had come up later in the day to camp out with them and they were waiting for her hubby and kid to arrive when it started thundering and lightening. My friend grabbed her kids and went down to the parking spot and loaded them in while her hubby and sis put out the camp fire completely. They went to her house and slept there. In the morning, since the weather cleared, my friend went back to the camp site to start the fire and finish their camp out. While getting the fire pit ready, she found a small circuit board, a blob of burned plastic and a small clear window that was on the cellphone. He DID have his phone in his pocket but at some point it fell out while he was tending the fire and that was the end of that phone.

SO, enjoy your cellphone and should ever you think nothing will happen to your phone, well, we thought that too.

Happy Early Mother's Day!

This morning I woke up before the boys. I knew they planned a special breakfast in bed so I snuck out to the kitchen for some coffee. Lil Mendel came out shortly after and we snuck into the fudge rounds and had a special snack and giggles together over coffee. I sat at my computer and checked emails after that and Miles eventually crawled out of bed and started fixing breakfast for me.

I was served a bell pepper egg just the way I like it! He sautee'd the bell pepper first, then dumped the eggs in on top of them and scrambled them together. It was really good with the side of Jimmy Dean maple sausage. Now I love maple sausage, but I think the entire pack (all 12 links) was a bit much for me, so I shared them with the boys.

I received a wonderful pink gift bag with a card attached :) It had the Black eyed Peas CD Monkey Business and the book "Dick Cheney's Survival Bible- DUCK!" that I wanted. Lil Mendel also gave me a keychain that has a book on the end with blank pages inside. It is to help me from forgetting things. Wow! He knows me well!

I've had a wonderful Mother's Day! And since I know you are wonderign why I am celebrating today instead of tomorrow...

Tomorrow is our 12th Anniversary. We won't be together for it. My hubby is in the Navy in San Diego and we're in TN. But we'll be celebrating anyway. I asked his friend to take him out for me, and I have two wonderful gentlemen who will be sharing a very nice dinner with me here at the Rolling Hills Cafe, AKA my front porch. It'll be a wonderful time :)

I've missed my blog!

After a month of phone and internet and router problems, I forgot to post on my blog. We're doing great. This weekend we are traveling to South Carolina for the weekend. We'll be going to Fairy Glen for the weekend and celebrating Beltaine. I won't be able to answer email until Tuesday though. I promised myself that Monday I would spend time unpacking and getting the house organized. And I do better when everything is put back!

Next week my list of accomplishments to achieve are:

1) Clean out the closets.

2) Finish sorting through clothes and putting the seasonal clothes in bags in the closet and other clothes set aside and priced for the flea market.

3) Plan the lesson plans for AO for 22 June to 21 September.

4) Report grades to HomeLife Academy and finsih their portfolio's (good practice for the upper years)

5) Finish the boys bedroom walls.

6) Get the printer and ink on ebay.

7) Post the Trans Am for sale in teh trader... It's $4,000 if any wants to buy it. Email us at dotchi@vei.net

8) Get checks done for the 15th paycheck and ready to mail.

So far I have been doing better with the Motivated Moms chores/ tasks and the A Plan Of Attack lists. It gets hard on some days and I feel like everything is falling behind, but other days I feel great and feel like I can do it with no problems. I think it will help once we have a lot of stuff out of the house.

Well, off I go to finish planning the weekend! Can't wait to be home Monday!
